Odessey Bookstore Design + Build Out

The Odyssey Bookstore is a warm and modern shop nestled seamlessly into the basement of a historic stone building - a space as magical as many of the stories that grace its shelves. In this major repositioning project, Rocco Design + Build was tasked with restoring the derelict and unused sub-level space into a bright and inviting retail destination while highlighting and celebrating the building's historic features. Custom cabinetry and architectural lighting was designed to complement existing details like stone walls, two fireplaces, and former servant's quarters, which now serves as a functioning kitchen.

Our team also salvaged many of the existing furniture discovered during the excavation phase, including a collection of antique chairs. We also and designed and built bespoke furniture, including a round table with a brass-compass inlay, which has become the centerpiece of the bookstore.
